Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using SolTicker

Last updated: 29 May 2026

1. About SolTicker

SolTicker is a solar battery management service operated by Searchex Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. By creating an account and using SolTicker you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Questions? Email [email protected].

2. The service

SolTicker connects to your solar inverter via the Growatt cloud API and automates overnight battery charging decisions based on electricity tariff rates and solar forecasts. The service includes:

  • Nightly charge planning and automatic inverter configuration.
  • Mid-window monitoring to stop charging once your target state of charge is reached.
  • A savings dashboard showing historical energy and cost data.
  • Optional notifications (push, email, Telegram) for key events.

The service currently supports Growatt inverters only. Support for other brands is in development.

3. Your responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate inverter credentials and solar system configuration. Incorrect information will produce incorrect charging decisions.
  • You are responsible for ensuring your Growatt account credentials remain valid. If Growatt changes their API or your password expires, the service will stop until you update your credentials.
  • You must not use SolTicker in a way that violates Growatt's terms of service or causes excessive API load.
  • You must be 18 or over to subscribe.

4. Subscription and billing

SolTicker costs £5 per month (inclusive of VAT where applicable). Your subscription begins on the date you first subscribe and renews monthly on the same date.

Payments are processed by Stripe (card) or GoCardless (direct debit). By subscribing you authorise the relevant processor to charge your payment method each month.

If a payment fails we will notify you by email. Your account will be suspended if payment is not received within 7 days of the failed attempt.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel at any time from the Billing section of the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access until then.

We do not offer partial-month refunds. If you cancel mid-month, you will continue to have access until the period ends and will not be charged again.

If we cancel your account due to a breach of these terms, no refund will be issued for any unused portion of your subscription.

6. Inverter access and authorisation

By providing your Growatt credentials you explicitly authorise SolTicker to:

  • Read live and historical data from your inverter.
  • Write AC charge time period settings to your inverter on your behalf.

We will only modify inverter settings that are necessary to implement the charging plan. We will not change any other inverter parameters. You can review or revoke access at any time by changing your Growatt password.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

SolTicker is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that charging decisions will always be optimal. Solar forecasts, tariff rates, and inverter API availability are outside our control.

Estimated savings shown in the calculator and dashboard are indicative only. Actual savings depend on your tariff, usage, weather, and battery behaviour.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Searchex Ltd shall not be liable for:

  • Any loss of profit, savings, data, or goodwill.
  • Any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service.
  • Damage to your inverter, battery, or any other equipment caused by incorrect charging decisions, API errors, or third-party service failures.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep SolTicker running 24/7 but cannot guarantee 100% uptime. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.

We may modify or discontinue features of the service at any time. If we make a material reduction to the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email and offer a pro-rata refund if you choose to cancel.

10. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or use the service in a way that harms other users or the platform.

On termination, your inverter will revert to whatever settings were in place before SolTicker last wrote to it. We recommend restoring your inverter to manual settings if you stop using the service.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
